Autumn Falls in Donegal

Summer seems like a world away again as we slip into the gorgeous crisp Autumnal weather. I have never seen the like of the red and copper hues that surround us. The weather in Donegal this Autumn has been cool and crisp and perfect for those who love getting wrapped up and taking that outdoors walk kicking up the leaves!

So much has happened since Summer. You would think that because its colder here and the buzz of summer is gone that everything quietens down but I have attended so many events since the kids went back to school.

September brought the wonderful annual Disappear Here Film Festival in Ballyliffin created by the super talented Michael McLaughlin

October was eventful with the likes of The Luxe Theatre Spectacle at Fort Dunree featuring The Henry Girls

Crana Fest Annual Kayaking Weekend at Swan’s Park, Buncrana

LE BOOM Live Concert by MRK Events at OTB, Buncrana

There was also the Donegal Harvest Rally for all your racing enthusiasts and the growing popular Seamus Grant Weekeend of Traditional Irish Music in Clonmany!

If you haven’t experienced Halloween in Donegal/Derry then its time to get booking for next year!!! Its an action packed week of fun with “Awakening the Walls” and the worlds biggest festival in the nearby city of Derry, Inishowen Carnival Group Parade with Fireworks in Carndonagh and Buncrana Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Trick ‘R’ Treat Hunt for all the family in Buncrana.

Next week also sees the first collaboration from Buncrana Cinema with the Foyle Film Festival. Various movies will be shown daily in the gem that is the iconic Buncrana cinema from 15th – 24th November 2019 – Super exciting news!!!

So – it’s been a hectic few months! For those of you who think that Summer is the time to visit – do not be fooled! There is no time like the here and now. Most of these events are annual so if you are sorry you have missed them this year then there’s always next year….

Excitement will soon be building for Santa visits and I have to say that Inishowen and the nearby area has so much on offer – Santa’s Island at the Isle of Doagh, Santas Kingdom in Buncrana to name but a few!

We’d love to help you have an amazing stay. Stay with us and feel at home. We have so many options available at www.wildatlanticwanderer.com
